CSR
MatchPoint operates 'socially responsible recruitment'. Corporate social responsibility operating a business in a manner that meets or exceeds the ethical, legal, commercial and public expectations that society has of business. Social Responsibility is a guiding principle for every decision made and in every area of a business. MatchPoint endorses Corporate Social responsibility by working with employers on areas of workforce development, employee volunteering and sponsorship. Employee Volunteering. On the 6th June MatchPoint's managing director, Deborah Siswick took part on the assessment panel for a group of students at Leeds College of Technology. The students reported back that they had learnt significantly from the feedback given by Deborah and 4 other business owners. According to Emma Dunstan from the college: "The students benefited greatly from your professional advice, guidance, strong business acumen and expertises. The Assessment Business panel was particularly effective in providing the project with a focus, which enabled the students to participate in a professional environment" Deborah Siswick commented "I feel that I have benefited hugely from this project. It helps you reflect on how your own business is run, and how others perceive it. It wa a really run and inspiring day". Harrogate Poi Colour Spinning
Poi is an ancient art of spinning stones, however the Poi used in this session were made out of brightly coloured ribbons. There are many benefits of Poi spinning including helping relaxation, releasing anxieties, helping balance and building confidence. Here are some comments from those involved in Poi spinning: “Brings me from being a stranger to one of a group, which I think is essential among friendly people” “I find it very relaxing, it’s more enjoyable than aimlessly winding your arm round. It takes me back to my school days doing Greek dancing” MatchPoint’s Managing Director commented: “This was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. It was a chance for us to learn something new and develop new friendships with the residents. It was a totally different relaxing Monday afternoon!” Rugby Club Sponsorship Being a local Harrogate business, MatchPoint decided that it is time to make a real presence by sponsoring the side of the local rugby club. The decision was made due to the local club providing a fantastic resource to the local community. Harrogate Rugby Club not only provides the town with a sporting interest, but over 200 youngsters are involved in the junior rugby on Sunday mornings. |

October. 10 elderly residents from 2 homes in Harrogate participated in a Poi party at the Friends Meeting House in Harrogate.
